Working with Crystal Families

I work with Crystals quite possibly more than I work with Reiki, maybe that will change as the years go by, but all in all, Crystals are my calling and I find an immense amount of comfort in them and their uses. It’s taken me years to hone my skills in this area, and contrary to what you may or may not believe, getting a certificate to say I’m ‘qualified’ been the least prevalent part of my Crystal education. That’s not to say that it’s not important, I value my accreditation and learned an awful lot on my course, but an awful lot of Crystal knowledge comes with time and experience.

I have found myself specialising in Crystal Jewellery; bespoke Crystal Jewellery, to be exact, and through working with individuals to create something unique for their needs, I’ve discovered my love of Crystal Families….and now I use them ALL. THE. TIME. Not just in jewellery, but in Crystal Pouches and prescriptions for people.

So, what do I mean by Crystal Families? It’s a phrase I’ve kind of coined myself, because it honestly seems the most appropriate description. Crystal Families are groups of stones that work together for a common goal, or purpose, or more often than that, person.

Crystals have a wealth of uses, each one can be used for a wide variety of conditions and situations, which is one of the things I love about them, and they all work in different ways; some are stronger, some are gentler, some deal with the emotional body, some the physical, some the energetic, and so on and so on…

We are complex and unique creatures, and often our situations and conditions are just as complex and unique, which is where my little Crystal Families come in…

Despite the amazeballsness (yes, that’s a word!) of Crystals, their uses can often be vague. Take Lepidolite, for example; it’s vibration is useful for treating allergies, but allergies can be any number of things and have any number of symptoms. If we want Lepidolite to get specific, we need to team it up with another Crystal, or two, and create a Crystal Family. This group of Crystals will be specifically grouped together to treat an individual with a specific issue, and they will draw out the benefits needed from each stone and amplify them.

So, to give you an example, if you are suffering from Hayfever, and you have itchy eyes and stuffiness, Lepidolite is definitely going to be your first port of call, but it alone will only do so much and you are after a Powerhouse of Crystal potency to ease your pain…

Group together Lepidolite, Aquamarine, and either Emerald or Aventurine.

Aquamarine helps to calm the autoimmune systems overreaction to stimulants, so is perfect for reactions such as hayfever, and Emerald and Aventurine are both soothing for the eyes.

Set the intention for the Crystals for be used for the purposes of easing hayfever, paying close attention to the person requiring them, and keep them together in a little pouch, or group in jewellery, and you have created a Crystal Family that will be much more potent than a single Lepidolite in your pocket.

You can do this for any condition or situation, you simply have to break it down into specifics.

I’ll be writing more about Crystal Families with specific prescriptions for certain things, but do you already use this method with your Crystals? Or do you have an issue or condition you’d like help with finding a Crystal Family for? Let me know!

Crystal Crazy! Black Obsidian

I’ve been so busy lately making beautiful Crystal Therapy jewellery for so many lovely customers that I’ve hardly had time to write anything at all for either of my blogs (this one or The Big H). It’s amazing to be helping so many people and to be spreading the awesomeness of Crystals, but I really must find time to pop back here and write a thing or two, which is exactly what I’m doing now…

If you’ve not yet popped over to my jewellery page on Facebook, or you simply had no idea I even had one, it’s right here; Jewellery for Healing, so come and visit!

You may or may not notice in my pictures that I often lay my pieces over a lovely big black chunk of rock, and while it is partly for the aesthetics of the picture (because the big black rock is GORGEOUS by itself), it also serves an important purpose for the jewellery that I make.

The big black rock is a piece of beautiful Black Obsidian, and it is one of my favourite crystals from my own personal collection. I found it in a local crystal shop for the bargain price of £4 (I know, right!) and it is a vital part of my treatments and my jewellery making.

You see, Black Obsidian is a potent stone for grounding and releasing negative energies back into the Earth. It draws off these stagnant or non-serving energies and transmutes them into the ground, and back to source (since energy can be neither destroyed of created, on converted).

Obsidian is actually molten lava that has cooled rapidly and crystallised. It has an almost glassy quality about it but it usually completely opaque. You can get all sorts of colours from red, to green, and even rainbow, but black brings together the spiritual plane with the physical, and very quickly brings imbalances to the surface, dispelling them and protecting at the same time.

It is said that nothing can be hidden from Obsidian, exposing flaws, weaknesses, and blockages extremely quickly in order to deal with, heal, and move on from. Because of its potency and its ability to bring unpleasant truths to the surface, it is recommended to be used under the guidance of a Certified Crystal Therapist.

For all these reasons, my large piece of Black Obsidian is used to draw off energies and cleanse jewellery before they go off to their new homes. It is also placed at the feet of every client who takes a nap on my treatment bed, and almost everybody falls in love with it.

Black Obsidian, and a few other colours, are readily available in most crystal shops, although greens and blues may be quite rare. If you are lucky enough to come across a piece that grabs your attention, it is bound to become a favourite of yours too.

Namaste, you beautiful souls.

Crystal Cleansing – A Guide

Have you bought a crystal for yourself, or a piece of jewellery that claimed to have certain properties and have yet to see the effects of these so called properties?

If you’re wondering why your Crystals aren’t quite as potent as they once were, or even wondering if they have had any affect at all since you bought them, if may be that they need a good cleanse. Whether you bought them from a shop, an online supplier, or a friend, it’s highly likely that your crystal has picked up a smattering of energies that don’t belong within its bioelectric energy field (aura) but cling on anyway because that’s what energy does. Crystals get bogged down by negative or nonserving energies too, and they can get just as blocked as we can if they are not regularly cleansed.

Crystal Therapists will often cleanse, activate, and programme your crystal before you receive it, but this is certainly not the case when buying tumble stones from shops…Even crystal shops can’t possibly keep all their stock energetically cleansed.

Cleansing your crystals and crystal jewellery is easy! The simplest way is to hold it under running water for a few seconds. Take a deep breath and roll the crystal between your fingers while the water runs over the stone (or stones in your jewellery), imagine the negative or nonserving energies being washed away with the water until you intuitively feel they are clean. Be careful with soft stone crystals that could be soluble and get damaged by the water. Most crystals are fine to use this method of cleansing.

Another way is to reiki your crystals, if you are attuned to at least the first degree. Simply holding the stones or pieces in your hands and allowing the reiki to flow, picturing the stone being bathed in the light of reiki and it cleansing away all negative energies.

You can cleanse and charge your crystals in the moon light, or sun light, depending on the stone. Do a little research here and figure out which one is best for your stones. Some can be damaged by sunlight so be cautious. Most, if not all, crystals are charged best in the moonlight, but some, light Sunstone, get more benefit from the sun. Leave your crystals outside preferably, but on a windowsill within eye-line of the moon is fine. The absolute best time to do this is under a Full Moon, when the moon is at its strongest.

Finally, another simple way to cleanse your crystals is by bathing them in incense smoke. I have a printers tray full of crystals that I sit either Sage or Sandalwood incense beneath and just let the smoke rise and coat all the crystals. You can hold the crystals within the smoke yourself, but this can be messy and make your hands smell, which isn’t the most pleasant.

So, now you know how to cleanse your crystals and jewellery, when should you do it? Well, as soon as you have it of course, but then you should cleanse it regularly afterwards too. Once a month if you are just wearing it routinely, but if you are using it for treatments, then it should be cleansed after every single treatment, particularly if it is being used on different people. If you are wearing crystal therapy jewellery, simply try to place it on a windowsill under each full moon.

You should notice a difference in the effects of the crystal straight away, some crystals will even look a little different. Rose Quartz, for example, can turn a pale almost white colour when it needs cleansing, and after a full cleanse will gradually regain its much deeper pink colour.

Crystals are energetic beings, they grow organically and the emit a bioelectric energy field in exactly the same way that humans, animals, and plants do. This is how they influence the body and assist with healing on all levels of the physical, emotional, and spiritual. Love them and they will love you in return…

From the Crazy Crystal Lady 😉

Are you awake yet?

According to numerology, 2017 is a year 1 (2+0+1+7=10, 1+0=1), and 2016 has been a year 9 (2+0+1+6=9), which means as far as numerology goes, 2016 has been a year of completions and of cycles ending, and 2017 is a year of beginnings. If you take a look at the events of 2016, I’m sure you will notice an abundance of cycles ending in and around your life, whether they be deaths (look at the celebrity deaths this year!), relationships ending, careers changing, friendships distancing, or simply changes in habit patterns and the letting go of emotional issues you thought would be with you for much longer. 2016 has seen us release over and over, sometimes painfully, sometimes surprisingly, sometimes difficultly, but always necessary.

Have you started to wake up? Have you started to feel different? Have you started to notice the world around you in a different way?

I’ve noticed so many people starting to wake up and seek advice or counsel regarding the way they are feeling right now. Some are confused; it’s ok, it can be confusing to navigate and difficult to accept when you’ve always viewed the world in a particular way. Some are excited; that’s ok too, but pace yourself, you are in no rush, there is no end game, just the journey.

Someone asked me recently my advice on where to start, what to read, where to look…The truth is, there is no right answer for this. The biggest lesson you are about to learn is that the only person you should be listening to is yourself.

Let me tell you, there is sooooo much out there that you are going to learn. Right now, it probably seems like you have an awful lot of catching up to do…and you do, an entire universal history of catching up because the reality is, none of this is new! Whether its energy flow, spirit, crystals, tarot, healing, angels, meditation, astrology, manifestation, and a whole abundance of countless other forms and mediums that make up the universal consciousness and things above and beyond our five recognised senses. None of it is new. And all of it is available to you. You just have to listen to what resonates with you.

You will hear that a lot, “What resonates with you…” It means, what speaks to your soul. What feels right. What makes your heart flutter and your stomach flip flop. What feels like love; you know that feeling of falling in love? That curious crush, that exciting new chapter, that feeling of coming home…that’s what it is. The Universe is going to offer you opportunities, so pay attention to the smallest signs. Notice that advert, listen to that conversation, look for that indicator, that coincidence, that thing you can’t shake from your thoughts…The Universe it talking to you and when you start to listen, amazing things will start to happen.

You will face challenges, you will hit brick walls, you will find yourself lost…Don’t panic. Come back to yourself, centre, reassess what’s going on and keep going. There are lessons out there for you to learn along the way…and FYI, they never stop. This is not journey to a destination. There is no award or certificate handed out when you get there… “Congratulations, you are enlightened!” Nuhuh…it doesn’t work like that; this particular journey is going to take you lifetimes! And I can’t even begin to tell you how much peace and happiness it is going to bring you 🙂

You are about to spread so much light into the world simply by following your own path.

That’s the key though….YOUR OWN PATH.

No one else’s.

All you need to do right now is listen. Trust. Smile. You’re already here.

When the reiki doesn’t flow…

Reiki is a gift from the Universe, and it is available to you whenever your intention is set. It flows easily whenever you speak of, engage in, or even think about your relationship with reiki.

For many of us, the above statement is entirely true, and then some. Anyone who has a relationship with reiki will understand this. I call it a relationship with reiki because that’s what it is. It will never be an insignificant piece of your life, even if it sits quietly in the background for a long time, it is always there.

So, what do we do as practitioners, or even simply reiki-ists, when the reiki doesn’t flow?

I recently had a reiki crisis. I’m going to call it a crisis of faith because even though reiki isn’t a religious process or practice, it is, in my opinion, as near as I will likely get to one. I had a crisis of faith because the reiki wouldn’t flow and the crystals wouldn’t speak (I’m a crystal therapist too).

Even self treatments didn’t help. I found myself agitated…unable to complete a simple self treatment without feeling anxious…frustrated.

Within the space of a week all my clients had either cancelled on me, or I on them, for one reason or another. It was a giant, massive, not-to-be-missed sign from the Universe.

I stopped.

I stopped everything and I waited.

I am a firm believer in following divine guidance and I try as much as possible not to resist when I’m being shown something very clearly. I figured that something was off, that I was resisting whatever was meant to be, and when the time was right the Universe would give me a clear cut sign that I was continue treating with reiki and crystals.

It’s taken several months for the reiki to come back…not that it ever really went anywhere…but it’s taken me that time to realise two very, very, important things regarding my practice with this amazing modality.

Number One – Reiki is for Me. I’d forgotten that the reason I started my journey with reiki was because it had a profound effect on me. Not because I just wanted to treat others. Of course, I wanted to help other people and that had a huge influence on my decision to practice rather than simply receive, but ultimately, the reiki has to be for me before it is for anyone else.

This is the first thing you learn when you start to learn reiki…that self treatments are the foundation of your practice and ability. That you are your most important client and unless you are well, you cannot offer anything to anyone else. It is not selfish to take care of yourself first, it is your responsibility as a practitioner.

Number Two – I cannot have an attachment to the outcome. Reiki flows where it is needed for a person’s highest good. While I knew this, and I told my clients this, it has taken me this time away to realise that I was absolutely forming an attachment to the outcome…It just happened so subtly. As a new practitioner, I wanted clients to get the best possible results from my treatments. I am still learning my craft and I’m unintentionally praying for miracles so I can validate myself and the reiki. When a client told me their back was aching, I would treat their back, but I would also will the reiki to remove the pain rather than simply let the reiki do its thing.

Willing reiki to do something reiki doesn’t want to do is just counterproductive. I was setting myself up for failure. I never meant to create these attachments, and I didn’t even realise I was doing it until I carried out my most recent treatment.

I worked on myself for a long time before. I performed my Hatsurei Ho several times in the days leading up to it. I sat back and let the reiki flow for itself. I didn’t think about what I wanted as the outcome for the treatment, I thought about nothing but brilliant white light flooding my client’s body and I listened to what the reiki told me throughout.

It was an amazingly different experience and one that gave me the same high that I got when I started working with reiki.

It’s not all over, my recovery from my crisis of faith, but at least the reiki is flowing happily now, and the crystals have started to speak again. This is a journey, a learning curve that I feel may never be finished…I will always be learning thanks to reiki, but I must stop focusing on the outcome and start enjoying the journey.Reiki.png
